Throughout your education career at Central Catholic we have concentrated a great deal on Reading and Reading Success. There are a number of strategies to help you continue to read as you enter into high school and beyond. What strategies are there to become a life long reader? Sonny is an adventurous boy when during a time and place in history where it was more important to work and follow in the foot steps of your parents. Would you do this or be like Sonny? Why or why not?
 
Rosa Parks gets arrested for standing up for her rights. She states that she really didn't want to give up her seat because she was tired. How can this statement symbolize how the black community felt? Why would they be tired and of what? Explain in a paragraph or more/.
 
Tim states throughout the story that a lot of what he is doing, and Sam is doing is considered a sin. List 4 examples of sinful acts that he discusses and explain if you believe they are sinful why or why not.

The story begins with Tim's older borther returning from college, and having very different views than his father. Tim knows he wants to take the gun, and when it goes missing, Tim is not sure which side is right with the war. What would you do in Tim's place? Knowing what you know about the war, would you react differently? Put yourself in Tim' father's position, how would you react to your son rebeliling against what you believe?

Anne and Peter become close after living in hiding. Why do you think this happens? How is it possible to not no someone, be forced to live in hiding with them, and then start to have feelings for them? Describe why they are closer than the adults.

There are many times in history that we wish we could have talked to those who experienced the events. Anne Frank gave us a personnel account on what she was feeling in hiding during the Holocaust. If you could write to Anne what would you say? What types of questions would you ask her and why?
